Point Loma native Kelly Rulon had four goals, five assists, one steal and one blocked shot combined over a six-game span to help the United States Olympic women’s water polo team win the gold medal in London. Two days earlier, she had seen another 12:38 of action as the U.S. defeated Australia 11-9 to advance to the gold-medal game. That cut the Lion lead to 5-4 in the top half of the third inning. Unfortunately for the Rock Academy, that’s as close as they would come as Calvary Christian base runners would cross home plate three more times to help the Lions pull away for the victory. Prior to that, the Warriors had blanked the Christian Patriots 3-0 to reach the title game. In that encounter, junior pitcher Deandre Simpson went the distance for the Rock Academy, striking out seven and allowing only five Patriots to reach base safely (three base hits, two bases on balls). Meanwhile, junior Andrew Brown (two-for-four, two doubles, run batted in, stolen base, two runs s
