THROWBACK THURSDAY: TORREYS DESPERATELY SEEK AND GET WIN OVER EAGLES

"We've been in desperate need of a victory," said LA JOLLA COUNTRY DAY (LJCD) BOYS BASKETBALL coach RYAN MEIER after his TORREYS (10-7) defeated the SANTA FE CHRISTIAN (SFC) EAGLES, 46-43, in a non-league game at COUNTRY DAY on Wednesday night. "We came out with some intensity," said MEIER. "SANTA FE CHRISTIAN (14-6) is an amazing team. They shoot the ball really well."...MEIER on trailing by a score of 41-36 before rallying and closing the game with a 10-2 run to win it: "We could've quit. BY ROB STONE SEPTEMBER 2009 MONTE VISTA HIGH alumnus CLINTON SNYDER had a total of nine tackles to lead the host STANFORD CARDINAL to a big 34-14 victory over the WASHINGTON HUSKIES n a PAC-10 CONFERENCE football game on Saturday, September 26. "We expected to play this way," said SNYDER (five solo tackles, four assists), a senior linebacker. "If we execute, it will happen." Another San Diegan making it happen was STANFORD freshman running back TYLER GAFFNEY. GAFFNEY, a former CATHEDRAL CATHOLIC DON, finished with six carries for 23 yards and one reception for 17 yards. Meanwhile, WASHINGTON freshman wide receiver JAMES JOHNSON (VALLEY CENTER HIGH) caught three passes for 37 yards for the HUSKIES. With the win, the CARDINAL improve their record to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in the conference. THROWBACK THURSDAY; LOT TO LIKE ABOUT SCRIPPS RANCH HIGH SCHOOL FALCONS FOOTBALL TEAM THIS SEASON

BY ROB STONE SEPTEMBER 2018 According to local San Diego area high school football scouts, their is a lot to like about this season's Scripps Ranch High Falcons football team. Such as Nicholas Gardinera and Dillon Gebase. Gardinera, a five-foot-nine-inch, 170-pound sophomore running back, carried the pigskin 19 times for 157 yards and two touchdowns as the Falcons took a road trip out to Fallbrook and came away with a huge 28-3 win against the Fallbrook High Warriors.   "I feel that Gardinera and Gebase, possess solid, sound fundamentals," says local high school football scout Andrew Myers.   "Gebase does a good job of getting the ball to his receivers."  In a home game earlier in the year against the Del Norte High Nighthawks, Gebase, (14 out of 19 passes completed for 196 yards and three touchdowns) a six-foot-two-inch, 175-pound junior quarterback, found six-foot-one-inch, 170-pound, junior wide receiver Rashad Griffin Jr. for six re
