"We've been in desperate need of a victory," said LA JOLLA COUNTRY DAY (LJCD) BOYS BASKETBALL coach RYAN MEIER after his TORREYS (10-7) defeated the SANTA FE CHRISTIAN (SFC) EAGLES, 46-43, in a non-league game at COUNTRY DAY on Wednesday night. "We came out with some intensity," said MEIER. "SANTA FE CHRISTIAN (14-6) is an amazing team. They shoot the ball really well."...MEIER on trailing by a score of 41-36 before rallying and closing the game with a 10-2 run to win it: "We could've quit. But we sucked it up, played some defense, and came away with a victory."...LA JOLLA COUNTRY DAY'S 6-foot-5 sophomore center, FRANKIE BAMFORD, (24 points, 12 rebounds, eight blocked shots) finished two blocks shy of a triple double, coming up just short..."FRANKIE had a phenomenal performance for us," said MEIER...BAMFORD was followed in the LJCD scoring column by: 6-4 junior RYAN WYATT (9 points), 6-1 junior ALEX PEREZ (8 points), 5-9 sophomore KAI TUITES (3 points), and 6-0 freshman SAGE BURMEISTER (2 points)...SFC scoring column: 6-2 senior KYLE HUBBARD (11 points), 6-2 senior KARL HOLMLUND (9 points), 6-3 freshman GRANT CORSI (5 points), 6-6 junior KYLE DOAN (4 points), 6-4 sophomore RYAN MOORE (4 points), 6-2 senior CADE GOTTA (4 points), 6-1 senior DECKER DAVIS (3 points), 6-0 junior JEFF MALLON (2 points), and 6-2 senior DANE HOLMGREN (1 point).
