RSI: ROB STONE INTERVIEW WITH OMAR VARGAS

Recently, Rob Stone sat down with Madison soccer coach Omar Vargas to discuss their upcoming league games.

RS: Who are your top players?

OV: This year's team has many top performers, but I would say I've been most impressed with the play of my central  dfielders FranciscoLopez and Orlando Figueroa.  Both have an uncanny sense of awareness on the field.

RS: What are the team's strengths?

OV: We have very controlled sense of play.  We've had high intensity games with high pressure, and mellow games.  But, we hardly ever seem flustered.

RS: What are the weaknesses?

OV: Our weakness at the moment is finding the back of the net with more consistency.  We are working our way up our development and hope to find more success in front of goal

OV:

RS: Who are the top teams in your league?

OV: I honestly feel all of our league is competitive.  Not one of our teams in league should be taken lightly.  But Kearny has some well established returners, newcomers High Tech High Mesa are always competing.  Mira Mesa comes in as an established program, and Morse always has talent that can strike hot.

OV: We can only hope to compete for a league title.  It's our goal every season.  To be able to add a banner to the gymnasium.  To leave a little bit of our legacy behind.
