According to local San Diego area high school football scouts, their is a lot to like about this season's Scripps Ranch High Falcons football team.

Such as Nicholas Gardinera and Dillon Gebase.

Gardinera, a five-foot-nine-inch, 170-pound sophomore running back, carried the pigskin 19 times for 157 yards and two touchdowns as the Falcons took a road trip out to Fallbrook and came away with a huge 28-3 win against the Fallbrook High Warriors.

"I feel that Gardinera and Gebase, possess solid, sound fundamentals," says local high school football scout Andrew Myers.   "Gebase does a good job of getting the ball to his receivers."

In a home game earlier in the year against the Del Norte High Nighthawks, Gebase, (14 out of 19 passes completed for 196 yards and three touchdowns) a six-foot-two-inch, 175-pound junior quarterback, found six-foot-one-inch, 170-pound, junior wide receiver Rashad Griffin Jr. for six receptions for 119 yards, and a touchdown in the Falcons 31-7 win versus the Nighthawks.

"I like the way Gebase locates his receivers," says Myers.

Gebase (7 out of 19 passes completed for 86 yards and two touchdowns) located Griffin Jr. for four more catches for 56 yards, and two touchdowns in Scripps Ranch High's 28-22 road win earlier in the season against the Serra High Conquistadors.

"Gebase has a nice touch on the ball," says Myers.

All of this despite the Falcons suffering tough back-to-back losses on the road to the La Jolla Vikings and at home to their neighborhood rivals, the Mira Mesa Marauders by scores of 13-10 and 21-0, respectively.

"I have the best quarterback in the county," said six-foot-two-inch, 170-pound Mira Mesa High senior wide receiver Albert Lemon (four receptions, for 117 yards and one touchdown) of six-foot-two-inch, 165-pound senior Noah Tumblin (8 out of 13 passes completed for 187 yards and two touchdowns).  "He goes out there and does what he does.  He's amazing."

Griffin Jr., (five receptions), Gardinera (two receptions), five-foot-nine-inch, 165-pound junior wide receiver Mekhi Shaw (two receptions), and six-foot-two-inch, 200-pound junior tight end Mikey McGibney were also amazing in the losing effort for Scripps Ranch High.

"Griffin Jr. seems to know where the ball is going and at what velocity and when to use his hands to make the reception and when to use his body to make the reception," says Myers.  "He takes good angles and puts himself in the best position to look open and is aware of where the defensive back that is assigned to cover him is at."

"He will then box him out and show body control when he goes up for the ball.  He is smooth and natural and makes adjustments to the ball, which allows him to earn the trust of his quarterback, Gebase."
