RSI: ROB STONE INTERVIEW WITH TOLER GOODWIN

  • Recently, Rob Stone sat down with Coronado hoops coach Toler Goodwin to discuss their upcoming league games.
    RS:  Who are your top players?

    Our top players are Sr. Lauren White and Jr. Janie Ruttert.

    RS:  What are the team's strengths?

    TG: We believe our calling card is defense. We do a sound fundamental job playing man defense.
    Offensively we have a couple people who are our primary scorers, but we get productivity from a number of players.
    Our players have a strong understanding of their roles and responsibilities. When we play to those we can be pretty good.

    RS:  What are the weaknesses?

    TG: Size and depth. We have some size but do not have the depth so we must be conscious of our fouls and how we are being attacked.

    RS: Who are the top teams in your league?

    TG: The top two teams in our league should be us and Pt. Loma with Pt. Loma being the favorite.  The other two teams in the league are La Jolla and Patrick Henry.

    RS: How tough is your league?

    TG: Overall league strength is average as two teams are so poor.  However, Pt. Loma is good and we are solid as well.  Both of us will be contenders for the Division III title this year.

Recently, Rob Stone sat down with Madison hoops coach Milt Clark to discuss their upcoming league games. RS: Who are your top players? MC:  We are fortunate enough to have a great returning class. Megan Irwin is the returning League player of the year, Cameron Smith was first team All League, Imani Moore and Kaniya Lloyd was all league selections also. RS: What are the team's strengths? MC: T his season we have a deep team where we can go nine to ten deep. This program numbers have steady risen each year since I took over I think the Back to Back CIF tittles also played a role in it. We also have two off the top shooters in the county in Irwin and Smith, Lloyd and Moore was top of the top 5 re bounders in the County.    Once we get the pieces to all mesh we will be fun to watch. RSI: ROB STONE INTERVIEW WITH OMAR VARGAS

Recently, Rob Stone sat down with Madison soccer coach Omar Vargas to discuss their upcoming league games. RS: Who are your top players? OV: This year's team has many top performers, but I would say I've been most impressed with the play of my central  dfielders FranciscoLopez and Orlando Figueroa.  Both have an uncanny sense of awareness on the field. RS: What are the team's strengths? OV: We have very controlled sense of play.  We've had high intensity games with high pressure, and mellow games.  But, we hardly ever seem flustered. RS: What are the weaknesses?
